If the Government of Canada has issued a Level 3 Travel Advisory for COVID-19 (Avoid non-essential travel) for your travel destination, CIBC’s COVID-19 insurance plan may provide emergency medical and quarantine expenses if you test positive for COVID-19 while on your trip.
Emergency treatment
This benefit is for medical expenses related to the treatment of COVID-19 after receiving a positive COVID-19 test while on your trip.
Covered out-of-pocket expenses are subject to a sublimit under this benefit1.
Transportation
This benefit is for expenses incurred to transport you to the nearest appropriate medical facility or to a Canadian hospital if you test positive for COVID-19 during your trip.
Return of travel companion
If you’re quarantined, hospitalized or repatriated, this benefit is for expenses to transport a travel companion and your dependent children back to their home.
In the event of your death
If death occurs during your trip due to COVID-19, this benefit covers the preparation and transportation of your remains to your province or territory of residence or burial at place of death.
This benefit is subject to sublimits1.
Quarantine meals and accommodation
This benefit is for expenses if you are placed in individual quarantine during your trip due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Denied boarding
If you’re denied boarding on your return trip home due to a COVID-19 screening, this benefit is for unexpected expenses you may incur as a result of the delay.
